It is expensive to separate, disassemble and melt shipping containers for reuse of the metal. A better, economically feasible solution is to reuse shipping containers for their metal. Creates better use of resource time for building new structures (framework is already established). Shipping companies can save money and free up harbor space since unusable containers take up great amounts of precious harbor space. Containers are rarely returned to their origination point as it is less expensive to manufacture new containers at departure points than returning for reuse.
